Navigation: Inventory > Bill of materials > Edit BOM > BOM positions: Edit BOM positions No contents entries on this page Contents BOM List Edit BOM BOM Positions Edit BOM positions

BOM items are edited here, BOM-specific information can be added or changed. Master data is not affected.

Upper area Position hmtoggle_plus1 Position number The position number is counted in increments of 10. See Configuration wizard to set up. The field is alphanumeric with 20 digits.

Note The order is not related to position number, it is defined in the list of BOMs by Drag&Drop, it reflects the order of entry by default. Position number has not to be unambiguous.

The field "internal position number" (BEAS_STL.POS_ID) show the internal, continuous and unique ID.

Note on Update: Ii you updated to beas 9.1 PL: 08 from an older version, the position text and sorting will be pre-assigned with the previous internal ID (POS_ID).

Operation catalog: In operation catalog there are no operation numbers, only a catalog ID

Pre-calculation, routing and production: There you can edit the alphanumeric and the numeric position number

beas 9.1 PL: 08, BEAS_APL / BEAS_FTAPL.POS_TEXT

hmtoggle_plus1 Variants with script Left to the position field you can open the script window by clicking the formula icon ("display formula fields") Call-up is also possible via right click - script

Item hmtoggle_plus1 Item number of material, assembly or phantom assembly There, the item number of the material, assembly or phantom assembly is stored, which is needed for the assembly

hmtoggle_plus1Note on recycling remains, recursion: If the item is the superordinate item at the same time, it will not be broken down to prevent recursion. beas treats this item as a purchase part. Example of use: For chemical products remains from previous production can be re-used.

Example:

Compound |_ Addition1 |_ Addition 2 |_ Compound

In this case, them material item "compound" is not broken down, even if order related and was set up as to be broken down. In this case, the material item "compound" is not broken down, even if order related and was set up as to be broken down.

hmtoggle_plus1 Note on entry in Production - Edit BOM If an order related assembly is added, saving the BOM position, the assembly is added to the work order.

See: Item breakdown, Note on item (Recursion) BEAS_STL.ART1_ID I-Version hmtoggle_plus1 Version number or Item variant If item version control is active, the default version number or variant is entered here. An alternative variant or version can be selected. Based on this the BOM or routing is determined (if the item is an assembly).

This field is visible only, if item version control was enabled. See tem version control Description hmtoggle_plus1 Short name of BOM position Master data If "manually" is disabled, the designation of the selected item is displayed. If an I-Version was selected, the designation of the item version is displayed. It is not copied to the BOM, always the original designation is used.

If you enable "manually" you can change the designation. It will be saved then in BOM position.

Note: In BOM - list the designation cannot be changed.

Designation changeable from beas 9.1 PL: 08

Production / Pre-calculation Designation of used material / Assembly, changeable.

Drawing Number hmtoggle_plus1 Drawing number of BOM position Master data If "manually" is disabled, the designation of the selected item is displayed. If an I-Version was selected, the designation of the item version is displayed. It is not copied to the BOM, always the original designation is used.

If you enable "manually" you can change the designation. It will be saved then in BOM position.

Note: In BOM - list the designation cannot be changed. Zeichnungsnummer ist änderbar ab beas 9.1 PL: 08

Production / Pre-calculation Designation of used material / Assembly, changeable.

Manually hmtoggle_plus1 Allows a manual entry of drawing number Only visible in master data If active, the drawing number and designation can be entered manually. If not, it is taken from master data of the selected I-version.

Use this option, if for the position no item is available.

You can define an default item in Configuration wizard to be used for BOM positions without existing items. If the default item is inserted into a BOM position, the switch "manually" is disabled automatically.

Lower tabs General

Quantity hmtoggle_plus1 Requirement in entry units Determines the requirement in entry units per assembly. Usually, the entry unit is the consumption unit of the selected item, but in field "unit" any other unit can be entered, the same applies for field "factor".

hmtoggle_plus1 By-products, coproducts, disassembly If in one work order several products are manufactured, these are indicated in the BOM. Quantities are entered as negative in this case.

Negative BOM positions are treated as planned receipt in order recommendation. At backflushing, negative positions are posted in manually or automatically.

These items are valued according to Configuration wizard - Pre-calculation. Valuation based on post-calculation is not possible.

Configuration example for disassembly For disassembly there is no main product. Use a service item (not storage related) and define the resulting products in the BOM. Expected quantities are entered as negative.

Service item |_ Product 1 |_ Product 2

linktraining Training unit Disassembly

Configuration example By-products for by-products indicate a main product on top level. This way you can work with offcut and re-use waste material.

Main item |_ Material |_ By-product

In the Work order structure negative BOM positions are displayed in the same color like assemblies, but with another icon. The negative quantity is displayed positive (as receipt) the same applies for the postings below.

Negative BOM positions can be reserved for sales orders (or planned issues)

Posting process: Negative positions can be posted in manually, backflushed or posted in via collective receipt. See Collective receipt

Merging work orders the single receipts are inserted as negative BOM positions and correctly booked to the WIP account.

Note In production BOM the quantity is always given in consumption units.

Calculation of total quantity Calculation depends on column "Quantity per"

Quantity per = 0 Entered quantity = Total quantity

Quantity per = 1 Entered quantity * Assemblies to be produced in consumption units

Quantity per > 1 Entered quantity * Assemblies to be produced in consumption units : Quantity per

In master data the quantity can be entered in any unit. In "factor" you store the conversion to the consumption unit. By default, quantities are entered in consumption units.

The entered quantity refers always to 1 consumption unit if the assembly.

hmtoggle_plus1 Information on field names

Quantity entry unit BEAS_STL.INPUT_QTY If the stored value is NULL, MENGE_VERBRAUCH will be used. In entry screen INPUT_QTY is entered, using INPUT_FACTOR the column MENGE_VERBRAUCH is calculated Entry unit BEAS_STL.INPUT_UNIT Entry unit Factor BEAS_STL.INPUT_FACTOR Conversion factor from entry unit to consumption unit Quantity consumption unit BEAS_STL.MENGE_VERBRAUCH Requirment in consumption unit. Reference quantity for all following calculations Consumption unit OITM.U_me_verbr Consumption unit from item master Quantity warehouse BEAS_STL.MENGE_LAGER Requirement in warehouse units - Information only Conversion from consumption unit via formula defined in Units of measure. Warehouse unit OITM.InvNtryUom Warehouse unit as per item master INPUT_QTY

Quantity per .. hmtoggle_plus1 Defined, in which unit the quantity specification takes. The quantity specification relates to the assembly quantity x the factor specified here. At quantity 2 and "Quantity per 10 pieces", 2 pieces are needed per 10 assemblies. The default for "Quantity per" can be stored in the options.

Requirement (quantity per) means: how much material is needed per assembly ( quantity given in "quantity per") Assembly quantity„1“ related to the consumption unit of the assembly BOM quantity relates to the consumption unit of the BOM item

If "quantity per" is set to 0 , this corresponds to a fixed quantity, independent of the assembly quantity.

The BOM quantity unit can be changed. Then a conversion factor between entered quantity and the consumption quantity is displayed. In fact then the requirement is: entered quantity * conversion factor as per factor * conversion factor of consumption unit to warehouse unit * assembly quantity * conversion factor consumption unit to warehouse unit of assembly Unit Determines the unit, in which the quantity is entered See: Units of measure Factor hmtoggle_plus1 Conversion factor between entry unit and consumption unit Displayed only, if consumption unit and entry unit are different

Enter the conversion factor between the quantity indicated here and the consumption unit. Quantity is divided by the indicated factor.

Example Quantity 10, Factor 5 Results in a Requirement of 2 in consumption units of the material position per consumption unit if the assembly

BEAS_STL.INPUT_FACTOR Quantity per hmtoggle_plus1 Quantity in assembly units Quantity refers to assembly for the given factor. For quantity 2 and "Quantity per 10 pcs": 2 pieces are required per 10 assemblies. The default for "Quantity per" can be stored in the options.

Additional information see Quantity Scrap hmtoggle_plus1 Determine Percentage of scrap Indicate material scrap which is added to the calculated requirement

Example: Requirement: 10 pcs Scrap: 10% Total requirement: 11 pcs

Assemblies Scrap factor for assemblies relates assembly and not only to its material requirement. This is the different to the scrap, which can be stored in Item master.

Example: scrap in BOM position Pos 10 Assembly A 10 pcs, 10% scrap Item A contains Material B and has a scrap of 10%

Requirement Assembly A= 11 pcs Requirement Material position B = 12,1 pcs

Note: This field can be edited only in Master data - BOM. In the work order, all calculated scrap values are combined in column "Calculated scrap".

See Production - Edit BOM position

beas9.0-004-044-000 Rounding type Determines the rounding rule. See Rounding types If the unit of measure is changed, with the new unit the rounding rule is applied. Determines the type of rounding See Rounding types Rounding dec. Number of decimal places or multiple factor for rounding Routing Pos Determines the operation (position number) for which the material is required. For backflushed material, the material is issued on receipt of this routing position. The MRP run and APS consider the start date of this operation when calculating the material requirement. Assignments of operation work with phantom assemblies just like in case of any other forced re-numbering of operations. Restrictions for nested phantom assemblies: the operation assignment of the superordinate main assembly is respected, not the assignment within a subordinated phantom assembly. Warehouse hmtoggle_plus1 Default warehouse for planning and backflushing

If a warehouse is specified, material is issued from this warehouse by default when backflushing. If no warehouse was specified, the default warehouse is used. Right click to select warehouse. MRP also refers to the warehouse specified here.

Note: At "Production backflushing" an issue warehouse can be specified, which has a higher priority. See Production backflushing Length Length Width / OD Width or outside diameter Height / ID Height or inside diameter Info Any information. This field is unnamed in the basic installation. The name of the field can be configured in Setup Wizard - Master Data - Bill of Materials - View - Info Field.

Breakdown hmtoggle_plus1 Here it is decided whether sub-assemblies should be included in production or not Only displayed with sub-assemblies.

no: the sub-assemblies is not produced

always: the sub-assembly is inserted into the work order with the specified requirement quantity. Inflow is treated as order related inflow. Manufacturing lot size is not considered.

only shortage: a sub-assembly is created only, in case that the requirement for the work order can not be covered from stock. For this purpose, stock will be reserved for the work order. This functionality is only available from beas8.8.

Note: To determine the shortage, it is necessary to work with the reservation system.

Example: in stock 10, requirement 50. For the work order, 10 are reserved firmly, the sub-assembly is created for 40. Other work orders can not access this reserved stock. These 10 pieces can also not be issued or used for other operations.

Note: This option is only available in master data, and only for items with breakdown Id "storage related". If the work order is created from a calculation, this option has no effect. Valid from / valid to hmtoggle_plus1 Time domain, in which the BOM position is valid If no date was entered, it is valid always, otherwise only in the specified period.

Pre-calculation: Pre-calculation date serves as reference. In pre-calculation, all BOM positions are displayed but only the valid ones are valued.

Production Delivery date serves as reference. It is checked only at work order creation. If the delivery date is changed subsequently, there is no second check.

Sales order in order recommendation At breakdown of the assemblies the delivery date of the sales order is used, less the average delivery time, stored in configuration wizard.

Example of use 1 A supplier changes the item number from a given date Pos 10: previous item number until date x Pos 20: new item number from date x+1

Example of use 2 From date x additional material is required. If larger changes are needed, we recommend to use item version control. I-Version from Only valid for items with an I-Version from... (alphanumeric) See Item master - I-Version I-Version to Only valid for items with an I-Version to I-Version area Only valid for items with I-Version within Additional Text Arbitrary text issue batch remains hmtoggle_plus1 Charge-off batch inventory from the remaining amount of Only visible for batch related items Refers only to backflushing function or the function "issue material". Here you can specify, whether the remaining quantity of a batch can be issued. The starting quantity is specified here.

Example of use: 15 liters are required, 15.02 liters are on stock. Specify: issue remains from 0.1 liters. Then, in the backflushing process remaining stock of 0.02 liters is issued, as this can not be used anymore.

Numbers are given in warehouse units, as referring to inventory. In Configuration wizard - Production - backflushing you can set up, to issue only once at final posting (for example when the completion of a work order is reported) or at every posting.

In work order structure in material row a red dot will be displayed next to the planned quantity, after a value was entered here.

Note: Backflushing function beas2009-version is not supported see Configuration wizard - Material booking - backflushing

If a batch is located on several bins this could lead to problems. A batch may only be booked to one BOM position. Example: is is not allowed to post the same item batch on BOM position 10 and 20. Such a constellation could lead to problems.

There may be no further reservation on this batch remaining inventory. If there is a reservation, nothing will be issued.

The remaining quantity is posted to the WIP-account of the work order. A separate posting for the remains is generated. Costs are set in to the work order in the post calculation.

beas9.0-000-002-002 Book only reservation hmtoggle_plus1 Activate to charge-off at most the quantity of reserved goods Note Refers only to the function "material issue" / "backflushing (not beas2009-Version)" to the function "pre-assign" See Material posting - pre-assign. Manual issue function is not supported. Any quantity can be issued manually.

Function is supported only if the reservation function was not disabled. See Configuration wizard - Production - Reservation

beas9.0-000-002-002 Do not post scrap hmtoggle_plus1 If enabled, scrap quantity is not taken into account If this option is enabled, the scrap or offcut indicated for this position will not be taken into account.

Example of use: Production position Quantity100, Scrap/Offcut 10 100 pieces in the package In BOM next to components the packaging size can be indicated. Scrap shall not refer to packaging but only to the components.

In this case enter: 1 package per 100 pieces, Activate "Do not post scrap"

beas9.1-004-067-000 Planning method hmtoggle_plus1Determines, whether the planned material issue or receipt is displayed in MRP Setup options:

automatically: option applies from item master - scheduling - scheduling method no: item is not considered in MRP

Note: in case of assembly, its material requirement is not affected

Note: This setting has no effect on work order creation, only on MRP.

If the work order is created from a calculation, this option is set to "automatic" by default. It can be changed manually.
