This chapter deals with the beas translation concept. All reports are generally translated into the currently configured language of the program. For marketing documents, the language of the business partner or language stored in the document is used.

The beas report system can translate reports from every language into every language.

There are very different systems involved:

System Description Form All text fields in the form are translated into the language that is transferred to the form system (e.g. customer’s language). The translation table for this function can be configured in the settings for every language into every language. To this end, there is: a) A default translation table for sample reports b) A customer-specific translation table c) A report-specific translation table which is stored directly in the report If no translation is found, beas proceeds as follows:

  1. Translation into German
  2. Translation from German into target output language Form contents Contents are translated using the SAP translation system (sales and purchasing documents only). In SAP, a translation can be stored for almost every field. beas prepares a table in which the report to be printed is supplied fully formatted and translated. Date formatting (Sales and purchasing documents only): In a table, the date fields are supplied formatted into the corresponding language BEFORE printing, the report designer does not have to do this. The system also differentiates between the singular and plural forms. The report designer does not have to do this.
