ft 991a usb audio voicemeeter configuration - rfrht/Voicemeeter-FT-991A GitHub Wiki
Configuring your FT-991A for using the USB Port Audio with VoiceMeeter Banana.
A number of menu configurations must be set in order to the radio receive the computer-generated audio and transmit it properly.
Audio source & CAT/PTT/MOX routing
Menu Item | Value | Why |
---|---|---|
045 AM Mic Select | REAR | In a CAT/MOX TX event while in this mode, where does the audio comes from? |
048 AM Port Select | USB | Toggles between USB port or the DATA/RTTY port (TNCs). We want USB |
070 Data In Select | REAR | In a CAT/MOX TX event while in this mode, where does the audio comes from? |
072 Data Port Select | USB | Toggles between USB port or the DATA/RTTY port (TNCs). We want USB |
074 FM Mic Select | REAR | In a CAT/MOX TX event while in this mode, where does the audio comes from? |
077 FM Pkt Port Select | USB | Toggles between USB port or the DATA/RTTY port (TNCs). We want USB |
106 SSB Mic Select | REAR | In a CAT/MOX TX event while in this mode, where does the audio comes from? |

IMPORTANT AND FRIGGIN READ AND UNDERSTAND THIS
Notice that these settings will inhibit your front port mic.
However, it is possible to have the front mic port available as well - Move the Mic Select
clauses to MIC
. But, if you command a TX event via CAT command, the radio will expect audio from the front port. If the TX event comes from the footswitch or Digital Vox, then it still transmits from the USB port.
Then, if you won't be using CAT for voice TX (using Digital Vox or Footswitch instead), it is 100% OK to leave clauses 045, 074 and 109 in MIC
. I do (since I have a footswitch).
VOX
Menu Item | Value | Why |
---|---|---|
142 Vox Select | DATA | Otherwise, the radio will expect the audio to trigger the VOX mode to come from the front Mic port |
146 Data Vox Gain | 90 | I found the Digital VOX to be few sensitive - so crank up and avoid drops in middle words |
147 Data Vox Delay | 1200 | This is for how long VOX stays active (in milisseconds; meaning 1.2s) after last peak stimuli - For how long VOX stays up after last voice peak. Having for too short, you are going to be cut on short silences and umm/errr/ahhh etc; too high vox stays on for a long time after you stop talking. |
Convenience / optional
Menu Item | Value | Why |
---|---|---|
026 Beep Level | 15 | Reduces the button press beep volume, isn't it too loud? |
036 TX TOT | 7min | Avoids stuck mic and you transmitting a scene over the air (for so long) |
059 CW Freq Display | DIRECT FREQ | Avoids shifting frequencies by 900 Hz when switching different modes, like USB, CW, FM, etc. |
110 SSB TX BPF | 100-2900 | Widens the audio gamut that you can transmit, enabling more bassy audio. |
