Please update this if you use the Faikin and find it works with your model.
The code should work with a BRP069B42, BRP069C41, or similar Wi-Fi modules work connecting to S21 or X50 ports.
Mostly models will be S21 unless otherwise specified. Please do add more detail if you can, or ask in a discussion.
Current Amazon listing (UK) and Faikin Australia are the models that support 5V working on Tx and Rx.
VRV/VRF systems are commercial-grade “variable refrigerant flow” setups where one outdoor unit can run many indoor units. Not all multi-split or multi-head systems are VRV/VRF, so advice is to check.
Faikin is not currently compatible with VRV/VRF systems.
VRV/VRF systems have been observed in apartments/condos also with shared outdoor equipment. They can often be identified by a blue “VRV” sticker on the outdoor unit. Some indoor units may look the same and have the same model numbers as standard split systems, but use a different communication system in a VRV/VRF setup.
Some split systems (common in Europe, but seen elsewhere) come from the factory with a BRP069B41 style OEM Wi-Fi adaptor board already fitted, even if the actual Wi-Fi module is missing. If that adaptor board is present, you can connect Faikin using an S21 Type A cable, or remove or bypass it and plug directly into the indoor unit’s S403 socket using a Type D or Type E cable.

Use a multimeter to figure out where pins 4 (14.4V) and 5 (GND) are and make sure all wires are 1:1, as even when choosing "Same direction" some wires can still come in reverse order. The best way to ensure you're connecting the plug correctly is to ensure pin 4 (14.4V) is connected to pin 4 on the Faikin board which has a "12V" mark on back. You will need to use an X-acto to carefully lift the lever on the connector to passthrough the cables via the shielded electronics box in order to install the Faikin board outside it - you can also use this opportunity to swap the red and black wires to match pins 4 and 5, respectively. This way the red wire will carry 14.4V and the black wire will be GND, instead of being the green and yellow ones. |
