Install Firmware - retrofw/retrofw.github.io GitHub Wiki
These instructions will help you install the RetroFW custom firmware on a JZ4760 device like the RS-97, LDK, or RG-300.
1. Download the firmware
Visit the release page to obtain the latest RetroFW download. Extract the ZIP file to a convenient location.
Make sure you download the appropriate release for your device. Here's a chart to help you figure out which release is right for you. RS-97 consoles use the board revision printed on the motherboard. LDK systems are identified by the form factor of the system. RG-300 units are identified by whether the screen is bright or dim.
| Device | Firmware type |
|---|---|
| RS-97 v1.0 | Type 1A |
| RS-97 v1.0 S | Type 1A or Type 1B |
| RS-97 v2.0 | Type 2A |
| RS-97 v2.1 | Type 2A or Type 2B |
| RG_PLUS v1.x | Type 2B |
| RS-97 v3.0 | Type 3B |
| RS-97 Plus (60Hz) | Type 3B |
| RG-300 (Bright screen) | Type 3B |
| RG-300 (Dim screen) | Type 2B |
| RG-300 IPS | Type 5B |
| RS-97 Plus Anniversary | Type 5B |
| RS-97 Plus IPS | Type 5B |
| Retro Arcade Mini . | Type 4B |
| LDK (Horizontal) | Type 2A |
| LDK (Square) | Type 2B |

2. Write the Image to your SD Card
Finally you need to write the software in the SD, you can download Win32DiskImager if you are on Windows. Etcher is recommended if you are on Mac or Linux.
Open the program and search/select the RetroFW.img image file. Select the drive letter for your SD card and press Write.

After the write is complete, your OS may prompt you to format the card. This is because it does not recognize the data on the card. Just click "Cancel" and remove the card from your SD Card reader.
3. Finish Setup
Plug the SD card into your console's internal SD reader. The first boot will attempt to expand the filesystem to use all the space on the card. This may take a few minutes. The expanded size will be shown on the next and your system will be ready to use.
