Common problems and possible solutions

Note: this page uses Overthrow and Overthrow: Community Edition interchangeably even though it is always talking specifically about Overthrow: Community Edition. Issues present in other versions are not covered in this page. Additionally support is not provided for other versions in the official Overthrow discord either.

Signature mismatch

• This means your server doesn't have the signature key for Overthrow. You can get this key from the Overthrow-Community-Edition\keys folder. You need to place this in <server-root>\keys. Alternatively you can disable signature verification (not recommended unless you know the risks!)

The AI is broken, won't move etc

• Some mods are known to break Arma's intricate AI. Advanced Rappelling especially is known to break the AI. Check your modlist for potential causes to this issue.

Gendarmerie / soldiers don't spawn / come after I've killed them

• Overthrow uses logic in determining which areas reinforcements will be sent, and it might be that the town you are holding out in isn't currently being prioritized by this logic. You can force enemies to respawn by going outside of the spawn range and coming back. It is also possible that a bug has occurred but please test things out before submitting a bug report!

The game won't start no matter how long I wait

• Reduce the amount of mods you have loaded. Overthrow has a breaking point when a lot of mods are loaded and might get stuck during loading with too many mods. If the game doesn't start even with the minimum possible amount of mods, please submit a bug report with the .rpt file included.

Vanilla things are still present when using a modded faction

• Overthrow uses detection instead of presets for factions, and currently resorts to always using vanilla assets for some critical assets or things that don't have any detection logic. We hope to improve this over time, but currently vanilla assets will remain mixed with the modded assets, sorry for the inconvenience.

Other players on my server have inconsistencies in the game

• Things like different prices in towns for different players, etc usually mean that other players are running a different version of Overthrow. Please ensure that all players are running Overthrow: Community Edition specifically. If the issue persists or appears on signature enabled servers, please submit a bug report with the .rpt file included and preferably the modlist

Have you tried turning it off and on again?

• Often times problems go away by simply restarting the server.
