Frequently asked questions about Mondtholomew

What?

Mondtholomew is a "remix" of ApexXx-SenSei's ever popular Mond, made to fix issues and provide a generally better experience.

Why?

ApexXx-SenSei has stopped updating Mond (and releasing skins altogether) and it's broken in many ways. Half of the help requests in the Rainmeter discord were about Mond and how broken it was. Mondtholomew fixes those issues.

List of things Mondtholomew fixes:

Weather

Mond uses yahoo weather which has been discontinued ages ago. Mondtholomew uses the new Weather.com JSON parsers made by the Rainmeter devs.

Font

Mond uses Anurati by default, but doesn't even include it. This leads people to a lot of confusion. Mondtholomew includes the font but doesn't use it by default. You may enable it by editing the settings.

Resizing

A great feature of the original, but kind of broken. Mond uses [!WriteKeyValue] and [!Refresh], making the resizing lag a lot when scrolling. Mondtholomew fixes this with [!SetVariable] and [!Update][!Redraw]

Centering

Mond isn't centered properly inside the skin window. It shifts position when the day changes. Mondtholomew centers itself properly and provides right click centering options to accurately set the position of the skin to the center of the screen.

Translation

Mond comes with a language file that has all names of weekdays etc. that the user has to manually edit. Mondtholomew uses the local language of the users computer by default for the clock, so it's automatically translated. You may also change the language used for Weather.com queries to get weather information in your language.

Player

Mondtholomew comes with WebNowPlaying out of the box, making it work with the WebNowPlaying browser extension and Spotify by default.

How do I make Mondtholomew smaller / larger?

Put your cursor on top of the skin you want to resize and scroll.

How do I make the player detect music from the browser?

Install the WebNowPlaying browser extension

How do I make the player detect Spotify?

Enable the Show desktop overlay when using media keys setting in Spotify settings. Please note that Spotify doesn't provide information about the progress (current position) of the song, just the title, artist and cover. This is because Spotify does not want you to use anything but their own app. You can use Spotify in your browser with the WNP Extension to get progress information too.

How do I deactivate , I only want the clock?

Read the Using Rainmeter guide. Mondtholomew is made out of multiple skins, each of which can be unloaded or loaded independently.

Open an issue here on GitHub and describe the way you would want the feature to function and the reason why it should be added (eg. why it's useful).

How can I contribute to Mondtholomew?

You may fork Mondtholomew, develop it and make a Pull Request. I'm willing to pull improvements, fixes and features but if you're adding new stuff, it would be better for both of us if you first made a feature request explaining what you intend to do.

How do I take down Mondtholomew because it's infringing on my copyright?
