How to Move Your ReddCoin from Guarda Wallet
This guide will help you move your ReddCoin from Guarda wallet to other popular wallets. Don't worry if you're new to cryptocurrency - we'll walk through each step clearly.
What You'll Need
Before starting, make sure you have:
- Your Guarda wallet with ReddCoin
- At least 10 GB of free space on your computer (for some wallets)
- A reliable internet connection
- About 2-3 hours of free time
Step 1: Get Your Recovery Words from Guarda
First, you need to get your "mnemonic" (recovery words) from Guarda wallet:
- Go to Guarda's support page
- Follow their instructions to find your private keys
- Look for the section labeled "Mnemonic" - this will be 12 words
- Important: Copy these 12 words exactly and save them in a secure file
- Ignore the "Address" section - we don't need that
What is a mnemonic? It's like a master key made of 12 words that can unlock your coins in any compatible wallet.

Best For | Long-term holders | Casual users | Advanced users |
Option 1: Move to ReddCoin Core Wallet (Recommended for Long-term Holders)
Why choose this option:
- Earn staking rewards: Your coins can earn you more ReddCoin just by keeping the wallet open
- Official wallet: Direct support from ReddCoin developers
- Full node: Helps support the ReddCoin network
- Maximum security: Your coins are stored locally, not on someone else's servers
Downsides to consider:
- Takes up significant hard drive space (10+ GB)
- Initial setup takes several hours
- Only works on desktop computers
- Requires regular updates
Installation and Setup
-
Download the wallet:
- Visit ReddCoin's official website
- Download and install the wallet
-
Wait for synchronization:
- The wallet needs to download the entire blockchain
- This takes several hours - be patient!
- Make sure you have at least 10 GB of free space
Import Your Coins
-
After sync is complete:
- Click "Create a new wallet" (center of screen)
- Or go to File → "Create/Restore Wallet"
-
Set up the wallet:
- Add a wallet name (any name you like)
- Change from "Bip39" to "Bip44 Wallet"
- Select "Already have a seed"
- Enter your 12 words in "Enter your seed phrase"
- Leave the "Pass Phrase" box empty
- Click continue
-
Wait for scanning:
- The wallet will scan for about 20 minutes
- Your balance should appear when complete
Secure Your Wallet
-
Encrypt your wallet (recommended):
- Go to Settings → "Encrypt Wallet"
- Choose a strong password
- Write down this password - you'll need it to access your coins!
-
Backup your wallet:
- Go to File → "Backup Wallet"
- Save the backup file somewhere safe
- Do this every time you create new addresses
Enable Staking (Earn Rewards)
- To start earning staking rewards:
- Go to Settings → "Unlock wallet"
- Enter your password
- Check "For staking only"
- Click the anvil icon at the bottom right
- Select "Enable Staking"
Option 2: Move to Coinomi Wallet (Best for Beginners)
Why choose this option:
- Super easy setup: No complicated downloads or waiting
- Works everywhere: Available on phones, tablets, and computers
- Multiple coins: Can store many different cryptocurrencies in one app
- Fast and simple: Ready to use in minutes, not hours
- User-friendly: Clean, intuitive interface perfect for beginners
Downsides to consider:
- No staking rewards (you won't earn extra ReddCoin)
- Less control over your coins compared to running your own node
- Depends on Coinomi's servers for some functions
-
Download Coinomi:
- Visit Coinomi's website
- Download for your device (phone, computer, etc.)
-
Restore your wallet:
- Open Coinomi
- Choose "Restore a wallet"
- Enter all 12 words in the correct order
- Your coins should appear automatically
Option 3: Move to Komodo Wallet (For Advanced Users Only)
Why you might choose this option:
- Multi-coin platform: Komodo supports many cryptocurrencies and advanced trading features
- Atomic swaps: Can trade directly with other users without exchanges
- Advanced features: Built for users who want maximum control and functionality
Why this is more difficult:
- Technical complexity: Requires using offline tools and converting your recovery phrase
- Multiple steps: More chances for mistakes compared to other options
- No staking: Won't earn ReddCoin rewards like the Core wallet
- Security risk: Using conversion tools requires extra caution
We recommend this only if:
- You're comfortable with technical cryptocurrency tools
- You already use Komodo for other coins
- You need Komodo's specific advanced features
Warning: This option is more complex and requires extra steps.
Komodo wallet uses a different standard, so we need to convert your recovery words first.
Check Your Addresses First
- Find your addresses in Guarda
- Check balances online:
- Visit ReddCoin Block Explorer
- Search for your addresses to confirm balances
Convert Your Recovery Words (Offline)
-
Download the conversion tool:

-
Use the tool safely:

- Enter your 12 recovery words
- Change the coin from "BTC" to "RDD"
- Find the private keys that match your addresses (usually first few rows)
Import to Komodo
-
Open Komodo wallet:
- Click "Import wallet"
- Enter a name for your wallet
- Enter the private key you found
- Check "Allow custom seed" (important!)
- Type "I understand" and click OK
- Set a password
-
Add ReddCoin:
- Click "Add Crypto"
- Find and check "ReddCoin"
- Click "Enable"
- Your balance should appear in the Portfolio
Important Security Tips
- Never share your 12 recovery words with anyone
- Always backup your wallet files in multiple safe places
- Use strong, unique passwords for wallet encryption
- Double-check addresses before sending coins
- Start with small test amounts when trying new wallets
Need Help?
If you get stuck:
- Double-check you've entered the recovery words correctly
- Make sure you have enough free disk space
- Try restarting the wallet application
- Contact the wallet's official support channels
Remember: Take your time and don't rush. Your coins are safe as long as you have your recovery words!
