Translations - rbjaxter/budhud GitHub Wiki

Want to translate?

To translate the hud, all you need to do is find the appropriate language file in ..\budhud\resource and then replace the English words on the right side of the file with the appropriate translation.

Alternatively, if you're familiar with Git, you can also fork the hud and then make a pull request containing your chat_ file changes.

Here are some important notes:

  • In your word editor, make sure "Encoding" is set to UCS-2 LE BOM (Little Endian) (or UTF-16 if not available)
  • When translating, do not change the bh_ entries on the left side of the file
  • Do not worry about any lines that have // before them (these are just comments for my reference)
  • Follow the capitalization used where possible
  • Be sure to keep the (&) values while translating.
    • Any key following an & will be used as a "hotkey" that can be used to navigate the hud more quickly

Note: Any changes to a chat_ file require a game restart to take effect

In-game Chat Color Coding

This can be ignored, and is for Whisker's reference.

  • = 0x01 (SOH) - Use normal color from this point forward
  • = 0x02 (STX) - Use team color up to the end of the player name. This only works at the start of the string, and precludes using the other control characters.
  • = 0x03 (ETX) - Use team color from this point forward
  • = 0x04 (EOT) - Use location color from this point forward
  • = 0x05 (ENQ) - Use achievement color from this point forward
