This page contains a list of available blocks with short descriptions.
Aside
Block that helps parts of content stand out.
Aside with Image
Display a small image or icon and text side by side.
Audio
Embed audio files. File size limit 10 MB.
Authors
Display brief bio and photo of author(s) of a specific page. Images and text can be used within the block.
Buttons
Add buttons with links to other pages.
Chapter Progress
Visualize student progress in the chapter (exercises attempted + points received). Automatically placed on chapter front pages.
Chapters Grid
Automatically placed on course front page. Do not use on other pages.
Code
Add and display code snippets with syntax highlighting.
Highlighting code
You can highlight sections or individual rows inside of a code block with these tags
// BEGIN HIGHLIGHT(enter before the section you want to highlight)// END HIGHLIGHT(enter after the section you want to highlight)// HIGHLIGHT LINE(enter after the individual line you want to highlight)
Columns
Arrange content in columns to have show contents side by side.
Conditional Block
Contents of the block will be shown to students who all the given conditions. For example, a student must have a completed a certain course module before they will see the contents of the block. The block can contain following blocks: Heading, Paragraph, Button, Buttons.
Congratulations
A special block that is shown to students once they have completed a course (module).
- Register completion button: Congratulations block has a link to Open University enrollment system if the course code has been configured in the Modules tab. The course code must also be whitelisted in the Open University enrollment system.
- Generate certificate button: If certificate has been configured, students can generate their certificate through a button on the congratulations block.
Course objective section
Block that can only be used on the course front page to list course objectives. Automatically added to the front page of the course once a course is created.
Course progress
Visualizes the student course progress (exercises attempted + points received). Placed automatically on the course front page. Do not use on other pages.
Embed
Generic embed block used with embed URLs. Please note that the LMS has blocks for embedding specific services such as YouTube videos.
Exercise
Add exercises to the course material. See other wiki pages for more information on setting up exercises.
Exercises in chapter
A list of exercises included in the chapter. Automatically placed on chapter front pages. Do not add to other pages.
Expandable content
Create content that can be expanded and collapsed.
File
Upload files for students to download. Creates a download button on the page.
Flip card
Create flip card with different information on both sides (front, back) - you can add images and text. Students can click on the card to reveal the content on the other side of the card.

Glossary
Items defined on the course glossary tab are shown as a table.
Heading
Add and edit headings.
Hero section
Automatically placed at the beginning of each page. Do not add additional hero sections.
Highlight Box
For highlighting short pieces of text.
iframe
A generic block for embedding content from other webpages. Please note that the LMS has blocks for embedding specific services such as YouTube videos. "An inline frame (iframe) is a HTML element that loads another HTML page within the document. It essentially puts another webpage within the parent page. They are commonly used for advertisements, embedded videos, web analytics and interactive content."

Add images.
Infobox
Block that helps parts of stand out.
Ingress
Add an element that catches attention to introduce the student to the topic of the page. The block consists of two elements:
- Heading (optional, can be removed if you just want to use the ingress / intro text part)
- Ingress / intro text: bigger text that stands out. Can be used for short introductory paragraphs at the start of pages.
Instruction Box
Add instructions that stand out from the rest of the course material.
Latex
"LaTeX is a high-quality typesetting system; it includes features designed for the production of technical and scientific documentation. LaTeX is the de facto standard for the communication and publication of scientific documents."
Learning Objective Section
Add learning objectives - you can have Learning Objective Section block on each page of your course.
List
Ordered (numbers) and unordered (bullet points) lists.
Map
An interactive block where students select the country they live in and after that a map of participants is shown to students.
Mentimeter
Embed Mentimeter content.
Pages in Chapter
Lists pages within a chapter. Automatically placed on chapter front pages. Do not use on other pages.
Paragraph
Enter and format text.
Partner section
A block that can only be used on the course front page. Can be used to display logos on the front page. Logos should be vector images (SVG file type).
Preformatted
Add text that is displayed exactly as you type it.
Pullquote
Add quotes that include the quote text and the name of the person or entity being quoted. Commands a lot of attention.
Quote
Add quotes that include the quote text and the name of the person or entity being quoted.
Revealable content
Add content that is only displayed to students after they click on a button in the material. This block is currently broken.
Separator
Create clear visual separation between elements.
Spacer
Add empty space between elements.
Spotify
Embed content from Spotify.
Table
Add tables.
Table box
Table with a specific design.
Terminology
A box that you can flexibly use to highlight various types of content. For example: Use to list terminology covered on the page, or display a note to students.
You can customize the following:
- Label text (in the example: Key terminology)
- Label & edge color (in the example: purple)
- Number of items
Thinglink
Embed Thinglink content.
Top level pages
Shows a list of all information pages of the course.
Embed Twitter / X content.
Verse
For adding poetry, lyrics and other kinds of verse.
Vimeo
Embed Vimeo videos.
Youtube
Embed YouTube videos.
