Advanced Research Computing : UMRCP Existing Storage User

An existing user can request storage through the UMRCP form. There are several scenarios that can come up:

  1. A user requests a new Data Den and/or Turbo volume
  2. A user has existing storage that needs to be altered to be covered by the UMRCP
  3. A user has existing storage but wants new storage under the UMRCP

To address situation 1 follow the steps listed on this page:

  • UMRCP New Storage User

  • Additional steps are needed for new Data Den volumes for existing users:

    • A MCommunity group must be created with the following naming scheme - dept-requetor uniqname-dataden. For example - umms-keward-dataden.
    • The contact email is the same as the group name
    • The description should read "User group for <requestor uniqname> Data Den volume"
    • On the next page only change the setting for
  • If when checking an existing Turbo volume in SRS to update it to be covered by the UMRCP you see that it does not include replication please add a task on ticket zero and assign it to ITS-ARCTS-storage. Title the task -Please add replication to the <volume name> Turbo volume.

There are several considerations to take for a storage request from a LSA PI. The PI may already have Turbo, or the LSA MiStorage, or neither. Please create a task on ticket zero with the following content and assign it to LSA-ARCTS-support. Check SRS to determine if a volume exists and only include the Existing Turbo portion in the task. If no volumes exists only include the New sections. LSA will then let you know when you can move forward and how:
