Advanced Research Computing : Onboarding New Staff

Access to Bastion Hosts
- X needs to be granted access to mandarin.dsc.umich.edu, alethe.dsc.umich.edu and grassbird.dsc.umich.edu
- Use OARS (https://access.its.umich.edu/AccessRequest/RoleSelector ), select user.
- For roles, select ITS Only->Exception Requests-> ITS Exception Request and then put instructions in comment field. This needs to be done separately for each new person to add. Be sure to list all hosts as OARS admin will only honor those specifically requested.
  - “We have a new user ( uniqname ) who needs access to the group called staff so they have access to the ITS bastion hosts ( I believe they are currently mandarin.dsc.umich.edu, alethe.dsc.umich.edu and grassbird.dsc.umich.edu ).”
Access to ARCTS VPN
- ask msbritt or brockp to make request to via 4-help
- In the OS X native VPN, the settings you need for the ARC-TS staff VPN are:
```VPN Type: Cisco IPsec
Server Address: umvpn.umnet.umich.edu
Account Name: uniqname
Password: password
Authentication Settings -> Shared Secret: WseaTBed!
Authentication Settings -> Group Name: VPN-remote-IT-ARC-TS-Staff```
