Adding a Convection Fan to the T 962A - radensb/T-962-improvements GitHub Wiki

One of the mechanical modifications I have done is adding a convection fan from a used toaster oven I picked up for under $10 at goodwill. The idea was to generate a symmetrical air current in the heat chamber to promote more even heating. Alt attribute text Here

The lid of the heat chamber was modified by milling the grill pattern from the toaster oven. The fan assembly was then mounted and sealed with high temp RTV. Alt attribute text Here Alt attribute text Here Alt attribute text Here Alt attribute text Here

The fiberglass insulation and heat resistant board was then modified to allow the fan assembly to protrude through. Insulation that was removed for the fan assembly was reused to insulate the shroud. Alt attribute text Here

New aluminum tape was applied to seal everything up. Alt attribute text Here

The fan was wired up directly to the 120V mains so that it operates as it did in the toaster oven. It draws heated air from the rear two heating elements into the blades and exhausts it to the right and left side of the heat chamber. Additionally, the thermocouples protruding from the roof of the heat chamber are now adjustable to optimize their placement.
