Sprint 1 Review - rabeeb909/WorldClassPrototypes GitHub Wiki
Sprint Report 1: Prepared by: Casey VanHoof, Rabeeb Anwar and Jordan Zomberlei.
Intended Progress: The intended progress for this sprint was to first, get the design and layout of the website. We needed to work side by side with our customer to get this done. This process took about a week or so then we could begin to start coding and doing development. We researched bootstrap and how to use bootstrap in our development to aid in the development of the website and how it might help us give our customer the best looking website their company could want. After installing bootstrap and getting comfortable with it we began developing the main page for our website. This was an important step in the process because the main web page is the page all traffic will see when they try in the URL to go to this website. We wanted to make it modern and very professional looking to attract any new customers and keep their existing customers as well. After the development of the main page, we started thinking about the navigation bar and what other pages we wanted to incorporate with the website. We decided, with the customer that we wanted a gallery page to view previous projects, services page for new customers to understand what World Class Prototypes does, an about page to tell about the company and lastly a orders page where customers can place orders. We wanted to get most of the front end development completed so that we can put all our focus onto the backend development in sprint 2. We also wanted to try to get the images and videos from the owner of the store to put them on the site.
Progress Reflection: For sprint 1, we did very good progress on the goals we set out to achieve for this sprint. We first got the website design and layout confirmed and “okay’d” by our customer so we could start developing. We got the main page done pretty fast and then had to make the about page, order page, services page and gallery page. We have been working hard on getting all those site pages developed and looking good. We accomplished that as a team and have basically all of the front end development done. To continue our progress going forward I think we have to continue to stay in communication weekly and let each other know how we are all doing. If anyone has any issues that we should be aware of that and try to help one another whenever possible. Another task we need to carry into sprint 2 is communication with the customer. We have stayed in contact with the customer and need to continue to do that. We have a in person meeting the first week of sprint 2 to go over the backend development and hopefully get some questions answered. The second sprint will be dedicated to getting a hosting service to test our backend and develop that. We weren’t able to get the pictures from our customer so we used random google images to be place holders until we get the actual pictures. Overall, I think we accomplished all our goals for sprint 1 and have a good start going into sprint 2.
Problems Encountered: We really didn’t have too many problems for sprint 1. The biggest thing that slowed down the development was working with the customer to get a design that he liked and wanted and then applying that with the development. We had a little learning curve with using bootstrap for the first time and using GitHub for project management was something we never did. So after getting over those small issues our development went pretty well during sprint 1.
Project Progress: Our project progress has been going pretty good. We set out to get the front end development done in sprint 1 and we have all of our web pages designed and developed. The only other thing we have to do with the front end is to edit the images when we get them from the customer. The next sprint we will be coding mainly in PHP and developing the backend of the website for storing order records.
Update of Burndown chart on GitHub.
Conclusion: Overall, I thought we did good for our first sprint as a team. We communicated by texting or email and never left anyone on a island. We got the entire website developed on the front end which I thought was a great accomplishment for us so now we can focus on the backend up and deployment. I’m sure the sprints will get more difficult because no one in our group has deployed a website live yet so we will have some research to do. But this first sprint went great and all of us contributed evenly and stayed in communication. I think this never sprint will go good just like the first sprint.
