Jupyter Notebook Environment (Local and Online) - qiskit-community/qgss-2025 GitHub Wiki

⚠️ Note: One of the core labs requires the pyscf package, which is not supported on Windows. If you are using a Windows machine, we recommend using an online lab environment to ensure compatibility and avoid installation issues.

Working in a Local Environment

You may run the labs locally using one of the following tools:

  • Jupyter Notebook
  • JupyterLab
  • VS Code

Important: If you’re using a local environment on Windows, installing pyscf may not work. Consider using WSL (Windows Subsystem for Linux) or switch to an online environment instead.

Using an Online Environment

To ensure an easy and consistent experience for all participants—especially those on Windows—we are collaborating with qBraid, one of the supported online environments, to provide a pre-configured, ready-to-use environment for Qiskit Global Summer School labs. You can follow these steps to launch the lab notebooks on qBraid.

  1. Login or create a free account at https://account.qbraid.com/
  2. Once you have logged in, select the Qiskit Global Summer School workspace option in the Launch Lab section
  3. Click on Next and then on the purple Launch Lab button to launch the qBraid Lab interface tailored for QGSS 2025
  4. Click this link to launch QGSS notebooks on qBraid.

You can find detailed instructions on qBraid.
