This month QGIS Open Day is a Plugin Festival. We are excited to showcase new plugins and new functionality in the plugins we all know and love.

Description: More and more tools in the QGIS Processing Toolbox are available through so-called Processing Provider plugins. With these plugins you can use tools from third-party providers, for example, R, WhiteboxTools or PCRaster. There or also providers that are currently included in QGIS, such as SAGA and GRASS. Tools from these Processing Provider plugins integrate neatly into QGIS, so you can also create graphical models and combine tools from different providers. The presentation will discuss the installation of these plugins and give examples of how to use them. If you're interested in creating a Processing Provider plugin, this presentation will also give you some guidelines. The current challenges with the processing providers included in the QGIS Processing Toolbox and plans for the future will also be discussed.

Description: The experimental QGIS plugin OS-WALK-EU ("OS walk you") is an assessment tool to evaluate walkability at neighbourhood level. Based on existing measurement concepts, the tool combines different dimensions of walkability such as the provision of important infrastructure or the design of the street network. It uses native QGIS algorithms as well as the OpenRouteService (ORS) to perform network analyses. The analysis is based on open data, such as OSM or land use data from Copernicus. The weighting of the individual indicators and the selection of infrastructure can be determined by the user. Currently, the tool is published as a beta version on QGIS. Major developments to improve performance and select predefined profiles will be implemented early next year.

Description: QGIS added support for the native loading of vector tiles from QGIS 3.14. The easiest way to load them is via MapTiler plugin. The plugin allows anybody to easily load map data of the entire planet (from OpenStreetMap project), with details down to the street level from Cloud or any other URL. Plugin is an open-source project with code available at GitHub repository and open to any contribution from developers and users. The plugin offers maps of the entire world in vector or raster tiles, but can also open maps from any other URL. You can load high-resolution aerial imagery, hillshading and contour lines for outdoor maps or official government open data from various countries. A ready-to-use list of beautiful map styles is available to QGIS users. Those who prefer customized maps can make their own map design in a few clicks using the Customize tool. Users can set their own colors, fonts, or choose the language of map labels. Use the power of QGIS and reproject, rotate and export vector tiles to various formats (including PDF, SVG or DWG) or use Print Composer to create beautiful high-detailed maps to fit your needs.

Description: Passing data between proprietary and open source GIS software is easy, passing symbology is hard. While parsing esri ArcMap .lyr files into QGIS is still in development, qlyrx allows you to get the symbology out of esri's ArcGis Pro's .lyrx files, apply that symbology to the same data and convert it to QGIS .qml. The plugin uses base python modules along with PyQGIS to make the parsing process as easy as possible. To use the plugin you open the window, select your layer, select the .lyrx file with its style and click OK. I'll talk about how we got stated with developing the plugin, show how to use it, and where is development headed.

Description: An informal open meeting to discuss the new QGIS release. Please join in the Jitsi room or follow on the YouTube live stream to ask questions and discuss all the QGIS awesomeness.
You can do this too! We really encourage others to follow our initiative, using the wiki page link below to organise your plans (just add a section below the last one). You can host virtual meetups in the Jitsi room, plan your next steps to take QGIS further down the road to world domination and much much more. We encourage language and region-specific huddles, documentation improvement sessions, bug fixing, making beautiful maps, and working together to do amazing things with QGIS.
We would really love to see more events offered from our country user groups and broader user base. The content can be at any skill level and in any language you like, and the times can overlap if needed. So please feel free to organise your activities on this wiki page. The QGIS Open Day is also an ideal time to hold virtual country user group meet-ups - please share your activities on the open day schedule, so that even people from outside of your country user group can benefit from your presentations. Dear QGIS Users
On Friday, 29th October 2021 we will be holding our monthly QGIS Open Day! What is a QGIS Open Day you may be wondering to yourself? It is an initiative to replace the wonderful community meetups we used to hold every six months when times were different. Like our in-person meetings, the event is organised on the principle of self-organisation and community participation.
