Preamble - ploopyco/pnp-feeder GitHub Wiki
In this section, you'll get an overview of what's necessary to build Ploopy Pick And Place Feeders from scratch.
By the end, you'll know the various tools required, and what components are necessary and where to get them.
Step 1: Get the necessary tools
- #1 Phillips-head screwdriver (or one that's pretty small)
- Cyanoacrylate glue (also called "super glue" or "crazy glue")
- Loctite, low or medium strength
Step 2: 3D-printed parts
- 1x Feeder Body
- 1x Tape Advance Wheel
- 1x Tape Advance Lever
- 1x Feeder Top
- 1x Tape Peeling Tongue
- 1x Base Plate
If you're not sure how to print your own parts, we sell them! See Appendix A: 3D-printed parts for more information on how to buy them from us. There are also a few tips if you want to make your own.
NOTE: There are two Feeder Body files: one is for plastic tapes, and one is for paper tapes. There are minor differences between them, but try to use the right one for the tape being used. It'll make quite a difference in operation.
Step 3: Gather the hardware
- 1x 1" x 7/32" x 0.020" compression spring
- 6x M3x12mm Phillips-head flat-countersunk screws
- 6x M3 nuts
- 1x M3 washer
- 1x 6700 bearing (15mm x 10mm x 4mm)
- 24x 6mm dia. x 2mm magnets (axially magnetized)
Check your local hardware store or preferred online vendor for these parts, as they're fairly common and easy to find.
4 magnets are for a single feeder; 20 magnets are for a single base plate. One base plate can accommodate 5 feeders, so if you're populating all five slots on the base plate, you'll need a total of 40 magnets.
Step 4: A note about sourcing parts
This guide will assume that you've gotten your components from us. If you've sourced your own, some parts of this guide may not make sense. You'll need to adapt the guide to suit your own components.
Step 5: Let's get going.
The assembly instructions are the same for those who've bought our kit as for those who've built everything from scratch, so once you've got all the stuff, head on over to Ploopy Pick And Place Feeder Kit Assembly.
