RHEL 7 Released

Red Hat Enterprise Linux 7 was released today. Game on. At home I'll probably wait for CentOS 7 and then deploy that to my servers. I still haven't decided whether my Fedora 19 and 20 systems will go to CentOS or be upgraded to Fedora 20. At work I'll probably start banging the drum to get people trying RHEL 7 over the next few weeks. I'd like to get at least one VMware guest up as a demo. There so many changes to the base system in RHEL 7 (for details see the Release Notes) that you really can't get started too early learning how to manage it. I got a head start by running Fedora at home over the last year, but there are a lot of folks out there who haven't had any hands-on experience with systemd, for example. Even shops that are slow to deploy new O/S versions will probably move to RHEL 7 relatively quickly. There are just too many improvements in stability and performance not to do so. Just as RHEL 6 was a huge improvement over RHEL 5, and 5 over 4, the move from 6 to 7 is going to make a lot of people's lives easier. Once they get used to systemd and some of the other changes in the way things are done.
