Waterfox
If you're like me and have gotten tired of waiting for the Mozilla project to see the light and finally release 64-bit Firefox for Windows, then you might want to go over and take a look at Waterfox. Waterfox is a recompile of Firefox source into 64-bit binaries for Windows. While most of the buzz about Waterfox is based on disputed claims that it's faster than Firefox, for me the key factor is that it is 64-bit. By moving to Waterfox I can finally remove a few more pieces of 32-bit software on my 64-bit Windows 7, including the ever troublesome Flash plugin. I still haven't worked out changes in my procedures for maintaining Firefox (at home we've been relying on the automatic update feature for both our Windows and Linux machines). But I think Waterfox is worth a try, if only as a way of thumbing my nose at the Mozilla project's idiocracy.
