Lawyerist.com

Lawerist.com is, in by its own description, a blog about "Law firm marketing, legal technology and practice". Boy, could have used it 20 years ago... When I graduated law school in 1982 there really weren't many resources that helped with the nuts and bolts of practicing law. That was something you got from paying close attention to everything around you while working in a firm or government agency. There was one helpful book, Jay Foonberg's How to Start and Build a Law Practice (without missing a meal). There are lots more resources available to young (and not so young) lawyers now. The Internet has made a big difference there, as it has in so many things. The practice of law has changed in many ways over the last 30 years since I entered it in the 80's. Electronic legal research is the most obvious one. The Lawyerist blog walks you through many of the others. It's a good read, and highly recommended.
