converting documents with unoconv

If it can be read by OpenOffice (or its more up-to-date forked cousin, LibreOffice), unoconv can convert it into another format -- by default pdf. That's because unoconv actually uses OpenOffice as a service to do its work. There are a few prereqs. Most importantly, the base openoffice package, of course. Then there are these additional openoffice packages: openoffice.org-pyuno I also had these installed already, that may be installed as depends to the above: openoffice.org-headless openoffice.org-ure python-openoffice Finally, unoconv itself: unoconv If all you want to do is convert a .doc file to .pdf, use this simple syntax:

unoconv test.doc

Could anything be simpler? I don't think so.
