Universal Time

Like the English system of weights and measures, I’ve long felt that the use of local time zones has unnecessarily consumed far too much time, money and effort than it’s worth.

The world would be far simpler and rational if we could get everyone to just start using Universal Time (UT, a/k/a GMT — Greenwich Mean Time, or “Zulu Time”).

Of course I won’t be taking the first step here at home anytime soon. My “users” here at the house would raise a ruckus if I made that kind of change unilaterally.

I am, however, thinking about replacing the bathroom scale with one that reports your weight in kilograms …
