Platform carriages carry blocks in a straight line from their open face (of which they can have only one at a time). Their open face can be changed by right-clicking a face to make it open, or sneak-right-clicking a face to make the face opposite it open.
Platform carriages have a (configurable) limit to the number of blocks they can carry.
Platform carriages are crafted using green dye.
Carriages define the shape of blocks to collect.
Sides of a carriage are either open or closed. Only open sides interact with blocks.
Carriages are created by shapelessly crafting one dye with either one or eight carriage frameworks. Carriages can be returned to frameworks by placing them in a crafting table.
Carriages can be decorated - this causes closed sides to take on the appearance of the decoration block.
