The P1 dongle has a built-in LED, which also functions as a button (see: resetting the dongle). The LED allows basic user feedback depending on its colour and behaviour.

| Red | ON | Steady on | Dongle is booting or updating |
| Blue | ON | Steady on | Dongle is in access point mode and connected to the digital meter |
| Blue | ON ON OFF | Blink blink pause | Dongle could not connect to wifi and is back in access point mode |
| Blue | ON ON OFF OFF | Slow blink | Dongle is in access point mode, digital meter not detected |
| Blue | ON OFF ON OFF | Fast blink | Dongle is in access point mode, critical error |
| Green | ON | Steady on | Dongle is connected to the wifi network without errors |
| Green | ON ON OFF | Blink blink pause | Dongle connected to wifi, could not connect to remote server (MQTT or update server) |
| Green | ON ON OFF OFF | Slow blink | Dongle connected to wifi, digital meter not detected |

When accessing the main portal page of the P1 dongle, the error states are displayed on top.
