This FAQ will answer common questions and help you solve common errors with the game.

Invalid Steam Auth Ticket

Issue Description

If you are getting any of the following messages in the server logs:

• [SteamAPI] Authentication ticket of [player Steam ID] not OK: [response code]
• AuthTicket from [player Steam ID] looks invalid, denying connection: [some result code]

Or your client (UI or logs):

• steam ticket was invalid

Possible causes

• The Steam account is already playing Colony Survival
• • e.g. launched Colony Survival dedicated server through Steam, then launched once more as the client through Steam
• The game is a pirated copy

Solutions

• Launch the dedicated server through the executable (not through Steam) and launch your client through Steam
• Buy the game if the copy of the game is pirated

Server listed multiple times in Multiplayer Menu

Issue Description

In the Multiplayer Menu, your server is shown multiple times.

Possible causes

You are probably hosting your server locally on the same network. The game find this server as a LAN server, then also find the server through the Steam Multiplayer API (to the game this looks like a different server).

Solutions

Leave this as-is, this is expected behaviour.
