Story

Prologue

The game begins in the Innovation Hub, a high-tech, sustainability-focused research facility that serves as the heart of scientific progress in the Ecofren universe. The player is a new recruit, recently hired to work alongside brilliant scientists, engineers, and AI entities dedicated to solving the world's most pressing environmental issues.

As part of the onboarding process, the player must undertake an interview with an AI Advisor, where they select a pressing real-world sustainability challenge and discuss potential solutions. The AI Agent evaluates their responses, offering insight, encouragement, and personalized tasks tailored to their chosen challenge.

The Five Core Challenges

In Ecofren, players engage in five key sustainability challenges, each representing a fundamental aspect of modern-day environmental and societal concerns. These challenges define the player’s journey and influence their progression through the game:

  1. Energy Crisis & Renewable Solutions Challenger: Dirty energy
  • The world relies heavily on fossil fuels, but sustainable alternatives exist. Players must learn how to harness clean energy sources, optimize consumption, and contribute to virtual solar and wind projects to ensure a greener future.
  • The character challenging player in this field is called "dirty energy". Dirty energy throws knives with statements, player must pick the right ones and do it fast.
  1. Eco-Logistics & Green Transport Challenger: Bad habits
  • Modern transportation systems contribute heavily to pollution and inefficiency. Players must develop and support eco-friendly logistics, adopt sustainable travel habits, and participate in initiatives such as electric vehicle networks, ride-sharing, and efficient delivery methods.
  1. Material Waste & Circular Economy Challenger: Wasteful materials
  • Overproduction and excessive waste are leading to environmental degradation. Players take on the role of waste managers, promoting recycling, upcycling, and a circular economy approach where materials are continuously reused instead of discarded.
  • The challenger in this field is "wasteful materials" or "disposable barb".
  1. Decentralized Ownership & Digital Autonomy Challenger: Greed around the clock
  • In a world where corporations control assets and ownership is fleeting, Web3 technologies offer a new paradigm. Players must navigate the decentralized economy, embracing digital asset ownership, blockchain-based property rights, and peer-to-peer resource sharing to break free from centralized control.
  • The challenger in this area is "my bubble", reflecting greed and mechanisms that support strong economical polarization in society. Ethical choices are to be under this topic. Truth and task - tell the truth and earn points; if the truth is ugly, the player must complete an action.
  • How to know, if the player tells the truth or not? It is in the core ideology of this game. An individual can't play without good intentions, since within the time the profile becomes visible. The idea of the game is to create a reputation for the player, that can help in real life challenges, and open up variety of gates.
  1. Wellbeing & Sustainable Living Challenger: Bad Habits
  • The modern lifestyle often prioritizes convenience over health, leading to sedentary habits, poor nutrition, and stress. Players must engage in sustainable well-being by incorporating fitness activities, mindful eating (planetarian dietry), and holistic living practices to ensure a healthier and more balanced life.
  • The challenger is "bad habits" who is chasing the player during the session. Completing some activities and tasks, considering the choices and picking up the better one gives the player more space and opposite.

This moment is pivotal, as it establishes the player’s core mission within the game. Based on their choices, they are given a unique starting set of objectives and initial resources that will shape their journey. The player's performance in this introduction determines their early progress, unlocking pathways that guide them through their first sustainability-driven quests and game mechanics.

Open-world Exploration

After completing their initial interview at the Innovation Hub, players gain access to the entire open world of Ecofren. Their goal is to explore, collect valuable items, decorate their homes, customize their characters, and enhance their sustainability stats.

Throughout their journey, players will:

  • Engage in daily sustainability challenges that align with real-world eco-friendly behaviors.
  • Decorate and upgrade their on-chain apartments with unique, unlockable items.
  • Visit different districts and specialized zones, each offering new missions, AI interactions, and eco-activities.
  • Track their progress through an evolving habit monitoring system that visualizes the impact of their sustainable choices. These choices can be novel and innovative and inspire the others who can be connected with players dashboard.
  • Participate in community-driven projects where players collaborate to achieve large-scale environmental goals. Ref. above.
  • Being intensive with this game gives the player extra points.

This combination of open-world freedom, interactive learning, and meaningful decision-making ensures that Ecofren is both an engaging and impactful experience. Every action within the game contributes to a greater, shared purpose—helping players build habits that extend beyond the virtual world and into their real lives.

Ideally, this game will leverage data management to provide personalized guidance. For example players would seamlessly connect their payment card data to automatically demonstrate their sustainable actions, eliminating manual tracking. This data-driven approach will reveal the most impactful choices, replacing current assumptions with concrete evidence. A simple example is the automatic identification of plastic bag purchases.

New ideas: Residental zone & wasteful materials: gamer can add a device (lamp) into system: the information of the consumption and sustainability are evaluated in game, gamer earns rewards by sustainable choices and sharing consumption data. creation of the digital twin.

Transport corridor & bad habits: gamer offers the lift to a colleague for a year instead driving by herself, better use of resources. gamer will be rewarded. creation of the digital reputation and digital twin.

Innovation hub & bad habits: gamer joins the charity, spends some time with lonely neighbor or takes out the neighbor's dog. Adding the photo and information launches the reward. creation of the digital reputation and digital twin.
