Concept - pf5054o/Ar-Glasses GitHub Wiki

The artefact we are promoting is a pair of AR glasses, that will be presented in a VR environment. The glasses themselves are composed of a bar that connects to the top of the frame, which project onto the lenses themselves. The product will also contain an SD card slot for storage of apps and recordings.

The VR environment will allow us to fully demonstrate the UI used by the glasses. This will have a focus on various apps such as; Navigation – demonstrated by providing a path through a 3D environment, Music – by having the option to play music from a UI panel, Recordings – via a demo of image capture, 3D model manipulation – demonstrated with a rotatable and scalable 3D model within the virtual environment.

The products demographic will be for a wide variety of users, such as people on the move (like business people and parents), those who work with 3D models (such as modellers and architects), and students (who could learn through various e-learning applications).

AR Glasses Concept Design

The product being created are a pair of augmented reality glasses; these glasses will provide an augmented reality overlay when the user puts them on within a virtual reality environment.

Our vision for the product that is being created is to provide an augmented reality experience in virtual reality, the product that has been sought out to be created will need the user to put on a virtual reality headset, and then interact with our design with in the virtual reality world, the user will then need to apply the special glasses where they would normally providing them with the augmented reality overlay.

The augmented reality overlay in the virtual reality world will allow us to experience a full range of specified user interface provided by the glasses providing the user with features such as; Navigation – which through the glasses will provide a path of direction to the desired destination in real time, for example, when using the navigation feature the user will be able to actively see the path they need to take when entering a route from their location to their destination. Being able to play music is another feature the glasses will provide in the virtual reality environment; the user interface panel will let the user select music while the glasses are on. Recording is a feature built into the augmented reality glasses, the user will be able to capture images just by looking in the direction of what they want to take an image of, as well as a built-in recording feature which allows the user to record and playback video in real time. In the virtual reality environment, the glasses will be able to choose an object within the environment and be able to 3D manipulation; the user will be able to scale and rotate the object in real time.

The demographic for this type of technology suits a wide variety of users, the positive applications that the augmented reality with in the glasses can provide for people in work that includes; 3D modellers and architects, which would be able to interact with their models – using the 3D manipulation technology features, pilots – who could essentially be able to view a real time view of their path of flights, students who are studying design/art could be able to take advantage of the 3D manipulation technology. The glasses are not only for specified use, normal tech enthusiasts would be able to have a new augmented reality experience.
