jose UI themes

  • Edit / Options / Colors / Application Colors / Design

  • choose FlatLaf design

    • Light / Dark
    • Darcula
    • IntelliJ
    • Mac Light / Dark
    • legacy Metouia is still available (and looks not bad at all)
  • system-wide Selection and Accent Colors are detected on Windows and macOS (*)

  • but can be overridden manually

  • Dark Mode affects the text editor, but not printing. I assume that you still want to print black text on white paper :)

Detailed Customizing

  • click "Theme Editor..."

  • there is a property file for each theme

  • lets you customize almmost every color, font, appearance, etc.

  • changing font sizes may be useful (and not too hard to do)

  • see extensive documentation at:

(*) What about Accent Colors on Linux? They do exist, but there's no useful API to retrieve them. Or your friendly distributor has replaced them with his own branding. Believe me, it's a pain in the ass. And one more example why Linux Desktop will never be popular.
