Welcome to Yearlingbell

Seimar

15:th of Granite 178

It is a fine, but rainy, spring day as we settle down after a long journey. The expedition leader, Urdim Alathkidet, thougt we should name our new fort "Yearlingbell". No idea what that is supposed to mean, and neither has he. Something with horses and bells.

The area looks great. It's flat, lots of trees, and there's supposed to be a lot of minerals and metals around. We'll see about that as the mining begins.

Our expedition team is skilled in craftmanship, furnace operation and mining. We even have Tekkud, our hammer expert, to save our lives if we ended up in a bad neighborhood.

We'll begin digging out our fortress as soon as possible, because rain makes dwarves soaked. And soaked dwarves are unhappy dwarves.

###3:rd of Felsite 178 The colony is getting set up fairly nice, with a farm-level, a basic industry-level and a level for sleeping quarters. The next step will be to get the bedrooms furnished and when the miners are done with digging out the industry area, we will begin searching deeper for valuable and useful metals!

###19:th of Felsite 178 Today the miners found a large underground cavern! For now we will stay away from it, since we don't want to get our asses handed to us by cave spiders. We will approach the cavern at a later stage. We have sighted Pond grabbers in the underground lake, and we have no reason to start messing with them yet.

###12:th of Malachite 178 Still no luck with finding metal which is, of course, a shit situation. We found a way around the cavern, and is slowly digging deeper. Slowly because our miners are away sleeping, and also needs to dig out room for our metal industry, which is a little contradicting, since we have no metal ore.

###14:th of Malachite 178 Immigrants! Jay! Except, they suck at pretty much everything. I'll order them to help some of our multi-role-dwarves, and maybe things will start going a little smoother around here. They also brought a stray rooster chick. Since we already have one for 5 hens, we will probably eat him in a later stage. He will make wonderful bone arrows.

###9:th of Galena 178 My mandate is nearing its end, and we have still not found any sign of metal, but we are digging deeper, as any dwarf should. At least the trade depot is set up, so maybe we will be able to buy metal for our most important needs. I'll tell the new stonecrafter to start making cheap crafts to sell to the next caravan.

###28:th of Galena 178 My mandate is up, for this time. In this half year we have dug pretty deep, but still not found any metal. Howerver, we have found a lot of gems, which we could probably trade for metal until we find some of our own. It will be up to my successor I guess.
