Manuscript name and Mosser link

London, British Library Sloane MS 1686. Mosser: Sl2.

Original construction

37 quires of 8 (296 folios), one quire of four (quire 32): 300 folios.

Missing folios

The outer bifolium 1.8 is missing from the first quire (folios 1 and 8); the third leaf is missing from quire 28 (folio 219); and the outer bifolium 1.8 is missing from the last quire (folios 293 and 300).

Added folios

None.

Absent text corresponding to the missing folio

GP 1-62 (folio 1); GP 414-471 (folio 8). Folio 219: see Notes. NP 556-620 (folio 293). 299v finishes with the end of MA, followed by blank space and the note "Deo gracias" suggesting this was the end of the MS.

Notes

There may be no missing text on 219. NU finishes on half way down 218v; PH may start at top of 220r. Images for 218v/220r missing, so can't check whether something follows NU on 218v, and whether PH starts on 220r. The text is so faded for L28 and TM (folios 251-269) that no attempt was made to identify the text on each page.

Concordance of the traditional foliation (as reported by Mosser) and the new foliation
