Kasparov versus Deep Blue 1996,
also dubbed the ACM Chess Challenge of Garry Kasparov versus Deep Blue took place in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from February 10 to 17, 1996. Kasparov, after the 1993 FIDE split PCA world chess champion, won the match with 4β2, losing game one [1], the first win of a chess computer against a reigning world champion under regular time controls, winning three and drawing in two games. Already in January 1996, the PCA announced that it had lost its main sponsor Intel partly due to Kasparov's choice to play this match versus the IBM supercomputer [2].
