Recogito Tutorial: Uploading modes - pelagios/pelagios.github.io GitHub Wiki

Recogito enables you to work on three kinds of files: text, images, and tabular data. To upload one or more documents, click on the “New” button.

Uploading modes

  • Uploading a single file: to upload any given file you can either drag it into the “My documents” space, or use the browsing interface to locate the file. The file will appear in your “My documents” list.
  • Uploading multiple files: when more than one file is uploaded at the same time, they are collated together in a new multi-file document. (You can read more about using this to compare documents in the Recogito Tips&Tricks section.)
  • Importing a IIIF manifest: Recogito enables you to import images that are stored on a IIIF server. If you click on this option, you can paste or drag the manifest URL in the dedicated pop-up. Or you can simply drag the IIIF manifest directly into the “My Documents area”. To find the image manifest on a library website or a digital archive, look out for the IIIF logo of the document in which you are interested. Unlike the other upload modes, importing a IIIF manifest won’t affect your personal storage space (200MB). Here you can watch a brief video about IIIF in Recogito.
  • Importing a TEI document: Recogito supports working with TEI-encoded text. To import a TEI document, either upload it as a file (using the file browser or drag and drop to the workspace), or drag a link to a TEI file into the workspace.
  • Importing TEI from a CTS endpoint: to import TEI served from a CTS endpoint select the corresponding menu option and paste the CTS URL.

The “New” button can be also used to create folders, where you can group your documents together.

Once you have created either a single document or a new folder, you can enter some additional information by clicking on the “Add a description” button at the top of the “My Documents” area.
