Codebook‐Information - pearce-nyu/coding-pre-post GitHub Wiki
This page describes the current state of the pre-/post-test codebook and how to use it to code student responses to the PEaRCE pre-/post-tests.
Overview
The codebook is organized by categories, each with their respective levels of sub-categories. These categories are used to tag student responses to the pre-/post-test questions. Currently, the level of analysis for tagging student responses is at the sentence/phrase level — in other words, student responses are split by sentence and each sentence is tagged with the appropriate category(ies) (Note: A sentence can be tagged with multiple categories).
The following section lists and describes the highest-level codebook categories called Dimensions. Each Dimension navigates to a dedicated page that further describes the selected dimension, its sub-categories (e.g., Code levels 1 and/or 2), and guidance on how to determine which categories to tag student responses with.
Dimensions
The highest organizing level of the codebook are the Dimensions. The codebook is currently composed of four (4) dimensions. Click on each of the dimensions below to read about the categories within each dimension and how to use the categories to tag student responses.
Dimension | Description |

Technology |
Descriptions pertaining to the technology or its components that describe key elements—such as how they are developed, structured, or how they enable the technology's operations. |
Communities |
Descriptions about communities, entities, or individuals that may be directly or indirectly impacted by, or create an impact through, the use or development of a technology. |
