Manifesto - patterns-dev/patterns GitHub Wiki
The big picture mission is to have a positive impact on the global culture of building - to move it closer to the timeless, closer to the human, closer to the heart.
More locally, the objectives are to build an online knowledge resource and community for building and development: to store, showcase, and refine recipes/tools/patterns/examples of successful building and development.
The primary goal is to be able to deliver smart and advanced knowledge on a particular topic from a variety of available per-reviewed data-drive, clinically-tested sources.
The secondary goal is to enable smart people to smarten even more some really smart stuff in really smart ways
Specification Items
To be able to tag a blob of data in any way imaginable including: globally unique identifier, LoC identifiers, Dublin Core tags, Bart Simpson's taxonomy and whatever
To be able to display the blobs of data wherever and when including as Wordpress pages, records in a PostgreSQL database, Federated Wiki articles, Google Docs, Second-Life prims, whatever
To be able to fork/merge/ git push/ git pull the blobs of data willy-nilly.
The various appearances of instances of blobs blobs of data should sync automatically. [I have updated a blob in my WordPress, your instance in the Federated Wiki should display the same content withing milliseconds, ditto her instance of the content in an Excel spreadsheet.]
To be able to keeps statistics on all of the above
Intellectual Property
In many if not most instances, the original blob of data will have seriously restrictive licensing requirements.
Strategies are available to access that data via Google books, fair use, special rights being negotiated and even purchasing of rights.
Academic publishing is on the verge of big changes. Must be ready to leap into the masses of data that will be disseminated via open publishing.
Hot or Not?
Is What I Am Looking at Genius or Balderdash?
The blobs of data have no idea whether they are hot or not. The tags definitely provide heat clues. In fact the tags are the repository for the various heatnesses. The gauging or decoding or deciding of heatness is carried by both brain and algorithm
