1. Project overview - patent-analysis/OpenPSV-Documentation GitHub Wiki

The main goal of OpenPSV to support patent lawyers and scientists in research of epitope-based patent claims. We designed it as a tool to assist the everyday activities of a legal department and a biotechnological laboratory such as: storage of patents, annotation, providing legal opinion, visualizing and sharing the findings. It extracts data and metadata from the patents, sequence listings, USPTO API, Lens.org API, Clustal Omega package, integrates data processing, data analytics, and visualization tools, and allows lawyers and scientists to interact with the system in multiple ways. Patents are uploaded into the system using a web interface which corresponds to a AWS S3 bucket that is monitored for incoming files. Uploading PDF patent files triggers ETL (Extract, Transform, Load) process which extracts metadata and creates patent records annotated with metadata in the database. Lawyers and scientists can access OpenPSV to store, organize, evaluate, search, and share data and metadata.
