Hubs - patchwork-hub/patchwork_dashboard GitHub Wiki
Overview
In addition to locally installed Gems, Patchwork gives you access to cloud based features, resources and services, stored on centralised Hubs but still managed through the dashboard.
Their remote nature means Hubs improve network connections between your server and other servers deploying Patchwork, offering new opportunities for discovery, collaboration and services that can be maintained and updated remotely.
Moderation Hub
Features to enhance and support robust moderation.
Spam filters
Block spam posts from the Federated network by applying our centrally maintained, preset list of Filters.
These are kept live and under review with input from the wider network of Patchwork server admins.
You can also browse lists created by other admins to find the best fit for you and share your own creations.
Content filters
Block NSFW, hate speech, profanity and crypto by applying any of our centrally maintained preset lists of Filters. Full lists can be found in the repo.
Preset filters include:
- NSFW (mild)
- NSFW (severe)
- Crypto
- Hate speech
- Profanity (mild)
- Profanity (severe)
You can also create your own custom lists and browse lists created by other admins to find the best fit for you and share your own creations.
Live blocklist
Control which servers your connected to in the wider network with deny lists that block all posts from specific servers.
Amplifier Hub
Empower end users to fine tune their timelines and filter by post type, time and more.
This feature is still being developed, but our ambition is that this will ensure users can easily access reliable information and curate their experience without exploitative algorithms.
Post type
Choose whether to hide or show reposts, replies and original posts.
Rewind
Rewind your timeline up to 24 hours to make sure you don’t miss anything.
Labels
Users can apply optional, self-determined amplification labels to their bios and posts, giving them opportunities to boost their discoverability.
Labels can cover different content types, sources and voices so that timelines can be searched or screened by label, allowing “Journalists,” “Blogs” or “Publications” to surface.
Labels apply not only on your local server but publicly across all servers, meaning a labeled “Journalist” will have their content amplified across Patchwork enhanced servers, wherever users tune their timeline.
In the future we’ll build on the Amplifier by introducing new features, such as preset tunings.
Discovery Hub
The discovery hub enables server admins and users to browse all visible Patchwork enhanced servers, enabling you to view local timelines, Channels, log-in as a guest and more.
You can browse all Feeds & Channels which can be added to the server as separate timelines.
End-users can also browse Feeds & Channels and go to the source to view and, if allowed, participate on timelines.
Newsletter Hub
Foster a closer, more transparent connection with users on your server by sending regular, custom newsletters.
Comes with a built-in newsletter builder, letting you design, write and send from one place - you can even schedule newsletters well in advance to optimise readership.
Create a Welcome Journey for new users, or use the preset one provided by Patchwork.
Alongside newsletters from server admins, users can choose to get regular updates from the Patchwork team.
The Newsletter Hub is built & delivered in cooperation with newsletter specialists Hive.

Browse a variety of themes for your server’s Web UI to give it the flavour you want.
The themes available include:
- Mastodon
- Newsmast
- Mastodon Bird UI (developed by ronilaukkarinen)
