Aurigae once was a goat: 1. Capella (α Aurigae: “Capella” is Latin for “little she-goat.” This star represents the goat Amalthea who nursed the infant Zeus in Greek mythology. Capella is one of the brightest stars in the night sky. 4. Elnath (γ Aurigae, also known as β Tauri: “Elnath” “النطح” (al-natḥ) “the butting” "nudge" referring to a goat’s horn. Elnath is also part of the Taurus constellation, representing the tip of one of the bull’s horns. 5. Haedus I and II (η Aurigae and ζ Aurigae: The names “Haedus” (meaning “kids” in Latin) refer to the mythological kids or young goats. These stars are often depicted as being carried by the charioteer, reinforcing the theme of goats in the constellation.
