Statistically, most current implementation partners do not have all their concepts mapped to the CIEL concept dictionary. In this page, the metadata server working group seeks to establish the procedural processes for the management of unmapped concept dictionaries.

Concept dictionaries are dynamic in nature. New concepts are more often than not added by implementation partners to meet the needs of a healthcare organization. It goes without saying that, such concept dictionaries need to be consistently and properly mapped for incorporation into the national metadata server. Therefore; it is eminent for the concepts to be entered into the CIEL/OCL dictionary.

• To ensure consistent mapping of implementation partners' concept dictionaries for incorporation into the metadata server

To establish procedural processes for the management of unmapped concept dictionaries for Kenya metadata server & terminology service working group

Step 1.

Compile a summary of terms missing from each implementation partner concept (this is already done)

Step 2.

The working group to seek information on implementation partner plans to map the the terms and the time frame. A consensus on how to proceed with this should be arrived at as outlined in step 4.

Step 3.

Requests for new proposed concepts that are not in CIEL are subjected to this workflow.

Step 4.

Concepts mapping The working group proposes as follows;

• Constitute a team of personnel to map the unmapped concepts.
• Or implementation partners to dedicate time to do the mapping.
• Or conduct mapping boot camps.

Step 5.

Concepts that do not exist on CIEL should be compiled for submission to CIEL.

Step 6. Localization of terminologies. Engage CIEL to allow localization of terminologies on the national terminology service.
