Techguns Turrets

The turret block is a tile entity the spawns a turret npc on top of it. The turret npc can take damage and die. When it is dead the turret base starts repairing it and spawns a new one when it's finished, during repairing the turret base requires more power. It also heals the turret over time at the cost of extra power.

The turret has 9 input slots on the left side, 9 output slots on the right side and 1 gun slot and an armour slot in the middle.

  • Input slots: put ammo there.
  • Output slots: empty magazines get put there.
  • Gun slot: place a gun from Techguns in this slot so the turret can use it. Any gun should work. (Yes even the chainsaw). The attack range of the turret depends on the weapon it has. With a shotgun it will only attack close range, while with sniper rifles it will attack quite far.
  • Armor slot: put a turret armor in there, currently there are iron, steel, obsidian steel and carbon armor. They provide 5,10,15,20 points of armor to the turret.

Turret AI

Currently Turrets attack hostile NPCs. They can also attack players depedending on the security setting, read this Page for details. Beware: Turrets might still kill friendly people if they stand in the way between the turret and a target.

Range Classes:

  • MELEE: Chainsaw, powerhammer. Can only attack ~2-3 blocks.
  • CLOSE: ~12 blocks range. handcannon, shotguns, flamethrower
  • SHORT: ~18 blocks range. Biogun, SMG, revolver, PDW, sonic rifle.
  • FAR: ~36 blocks range. Bolt action and AS50
  • MEDIUM: ~24 blocks range. All the other rifles, rocket launcher, so everything else not in the other categories.

Turrets can only shoot around ~45° up or down. Putting them on high walls might be inefficient against targets near the wall.
