What is Owntech?
Owntech project is an open-source hardware project to empower people on energy projects. Would you like to install a small wind turbine? Prototype your soft mobility solution. Set up a microgrid? Or develop your skills in power electronics? Owntech is here to help.
We offer you an ecosystem of 4 tools for entering the world of power electronics.
What is an electrical converter?
A power converter consists of a hardware and software structure. From a hardware point of view, all power converters are based on the same suite of 5 submodules:
- Power block: allows energy to flow between inputs/outputs, to be chopped and transformed. The Twist board has two power legs ;
- Measurement block: houses various measuring instruments for observing inputs/outputs;
- Control block: adapts microcontroller signals and manages the switching of active elements controlling the flow of electricity. The dedicated power controller is the Spin board.
- Feeder block: captures part of the energy and adapts it to power the entire system;
- Digital block: contains the peripherals required for real-time power flow control, communication, and a software stack.
What's new with the Owntech converter? You can understand and code the converter for any of your electrical projects!
How to start?
