Welcome To The Absolute's Laboratory
Foreword
This mod is designed for two distinct audiences:
- Technically skilled modders who understand the game and its underlying systems (Stats, Templates, Entities) that want to modify BG3 combat scenarios to their liking with a convenient but advanced interface
- Laymen users that want to use the results of the above groups work to enhance their own gameplay
Group 1 will be spending their time in the Inspector and Mutations, and will use this Wiki in its entierty - Group 2 will just be activating profiles imported from Group 1's mods and/or files by following Profiles
Disclaimers
This mod serves as both an interface and coordinator between you and the game - this means there is a lot of functionality that Lab enables you to do, but does not control or is heavily restricted in its ability to influence. For example, Spell List mutators allows you to remove existing spells of specific Source Types, but if the game forces those source types to exist, i.e. Spells gained via Boosts from equipped weapons, Lab can't override that - it is beholden to the same rules you are when using SE.
Because of this, I can not and will not provide support for underlying game behavior - I will not help build Mutations, I will not help triage issues arising from specific Mutation configurations, I will not help understand what other people's Mutations do. Requests of this nature will be ignored by me, though I won't remove the comments so other users can provide assistance if they so desire (keep it civil please, don't make me play moderator).
What I Can And Will Help With:
- Adding new features and QOL, provided they fit with the intention and theme of Lab and wouldn't be better implemented via existing modding practices (will be discussed as necessary)
- Fixing issues from improper implementation on my side, provided you recreate the scenario with a bare-minimum Mutation, and can implement the feature successfully using SE and/or can speak to why it's behaving in an incorrect way
- Providing clarification on how Lab's functionality is supposed to work, though any questions that are already answered in this wiki will be ignored for the sake of my own time and sanity. If you have constructive feedback on this wiki's usability, I'll gladly accept and consider it.
You can view the current backlog here: https://github.com/users/osirisOfGit/projects/3/views/1 No particular order is guaranteed, feel free to suggest prioritizations
