Basic User Types

Zambia enables the scheduling of a convention to be performed by a collaboration of multiple users over the web.

There are three classes of user with distinct interactions with Zambia:

  • Staff (required)

Staff users perform all the data edits necessary to build the schedule. These include creating and editing sessions(e.g. panels, events), assigning panelists to panels, and putting sessions into the schedule, i.e. assigning them a time and place.

  • Participant (optional)

Participants are any people who may be assigned to be part of a session. These may be panelists, masquerade judges, etc. Participant users specify the times they are available, provide their biographies, etc. If the program division desires participants may view the list of candidate panels and express which ones they want to be on and why. Once the schedule has been determined, participant users may see their schedules and the other panelists on their panels.

  • Brainstorm (optional)

Brainstorm users may be anonymous. Such users suggest session ideas by creating sessions, specifying the title and description. The sessions don't proceed until they are edited and vetted by staff users.
