Introduction

A research methodology is a framework used by a researcher when they are carrying out their work. At its heart, a research methodology is a logical set of steps put in place with the aim of answering the questions posed a problem statement or a research statement.

Any methodology used by a researcher should find the type of work being carried out. For this project, the methodology should detail what data is going to be collected, and where it will be collected from. It should also cover how the data will be processed and analysed.

Using a research methodology has a number of benefits. These include:

  • Provides a plan for researchers to follow
  • Provides a common framework to explain a researches process
  • Allows others to replicate the work

What methodology is being Used?

The main methodology used in a data mining process is CRISP-DM. CRISP-DM stands for CRoss industry Standard Process for Data Mining. This model is detailed in the diagram below.
