Common to all desktop applications

  1. Download the ZIP file
  2. Extract the ZIP somewhere you will remember

VMWare Player

You can download VMWare Player free of charge here.

  1. Start VMWare Player
  2. Click "Open a Virtual Machine" and follow the wizard selecting the AutomationVM.vmx file extracted
  3. Once installed, click "Play virtual machine"

VMWare Fusion (Mac)

  1. Start Fusion
  2. From the Fusion menu bar, click File > Open (or Open and Run).
  3. Browse to the location of the AutomationVM.VMX file and click Open.

VirtualBox

  1. Start VirtualBox
  2. Click New
  3. Provide a name for your VM in the Name field
  4. Choose Linux in the Type field
  5. Choose Ubuntu (32-bit) in the Version field
  6. In the next screen, select 1024 MB on the memory slection window
  7. In the next screen, choose "Use an existing virtual hard drive"
  8. Browse to the unzipped VM folder
  9. Select the AutomationVM.vmdk file
  10. Click OK
  11. Double-click the newly created VM to start.

VMWare Workstation

  1. Start VMWare Workstation
  2. Click on “Open a Virtual Machine” (or go to File -> Open…) and select the Automation VM you’ve just downloaded
  3. The new VM will appear in your list of virtual machines as “Ubuntu” - you may want to rename that to “Automation VM” or something alike.
  4. Click on the newly installed VM at the left, and then click on “Power on this virtual machine”
