Software: ThinLinc - nthu-ioa/cluster GitHub Wiki

You can use ThinLinc when:

  • You absolutely must have a graphical interface to get your work done effectively, and...
  • The learning curve of VNC is too high.

Common justified cases are things summer student projects, class projects that need more than just static 2-d plots (e.g. interactive volume rendering), and testing out of graphical software you are not familiar with.

Regular users of things that need graphics (like CASA) are expected to sort out how to use VNC for themselves. ThinLinc is the "lazy", user-friendly option. Please be kind to less experienced users by not hogging ThinLinc sessions without good reason
