Mechanical/Optical/Electrical Setup

1. The FILIF Laser Plate

The Laser Plate is packed separate from FILIF within a Pelican Storm Case.

> NOTE: The Pelican Case and Laser Plate should always remain in a flat/horizontal position!

The Laser Plate includes the (1) Eagleyard DFB laser mounted in the (2) Thorlabs laser driver. It is fiber coupled to the (3) Innolume SOA, which is driven by output from the (4) Boston Electronics pulser. The pulsed output is then fiber coupled for input to the Thorlabs Fiber amplifier.

Laser Plate in Tray

It should carefully unpacked and mounted on the black tray on the FILIF instrument rack. It can be secured in place with hardware (optional).

> NOTE: The tray may be secured for transit with cable ties. These will need to be removed before the tray can be extended.

2. The Fiber Amplifier

Once the Laser Plate is in position, the Thorlabs Fiber Amp should be placed in the rear of the tray. The black foam has cutouts to guide positioning.

At this point the thick blue fiber from the Laser Plate can be connected to the input of the Fiber Amp.

> NOTE: The input fiber is keyed.

The tray can now be pushed in, and the power cable for the Fiber Amp can be plugged in.

3. Thorlabs Laser Driver

> NOTE: Cables connecting the Laser Plate to the FILIF instrument are secured above the tray.

Plug in the power cable from the 12 V PS to the Thorlabs Laser Driver. Plug in the laser driver SMA cable (tan). Plug in the ground cable (red banana plug).

4. BE Pulser

Plug in the micro power cable for the pulser. Plug in the pulser SMA cable (black). It goes to the outermost SMA location, i.e., furthest from the power cable.

5. HCP Bulk Mixer

To connect the thin blue fiber from the Thorlabs Fiber Amp output and the Bulk Mixer, it is necessary to remove the top cover of the instrument.

Unscrew the cover and lift it directly up and off. This is best done with two people. Carefully untape the thin blue fiber from the instrument plate. Remove tape to free enough of the fiber to comfortably drop down and reach the Fiber Amp.

> NOTE: The output fiber is keyed.

Fiber Connect

The power to the SHG and THG Meerstetter TECs should already be connected and secured. The cables connecting the SHG and THG to the Bulk Mixer should already be connected and secured.
