Powering On - nthallen/keutsch-hcho GitHub Wiki

Initial Setup:

When connecting FILIF to power for the first time the goal is to establish communications between the GSE named HCHO and the FILIF "Flight" computer . The following is adapted from Norton's Formaldehyde Field Network Configuration instructions.

  1. Setup Chrome Remote Desktop on the HCHO GSE - It might just come up online.
  • If not: Go to Chrome Remote Desktop
  • Select 'Access my computer'
  • Log in as keutschgroupharvard
  1. Does HCHO GSE show up as being online?
  • If not: Scroll down to 'This device' and follow instructions
  1. Setup keyboard and display to discover CH2O FILIF IP address
  • Connect HDMI cable to the external monitor
  • Connect the keyboard to the Meerstetter USB port - Remember to plug the Meerstetter back in once you're done!
  • Connect the Ethernet to the container network
  1. Ensure that the pump and UPS (uninterruptible power supply) are on separate circuits
  2. Turn on the UPS. Let it cycle on. Verify that the red LED on the back of the UPS is not lit

NOTE: The UPS will sound an alarm because the battery is dead. Do your best to ignore this. After many excruciating hours it will shut off.

  1. Turn on the Auxiliary Electronics Box (Aux Box) - switch located on the back - This will power on CH2O FILIF.

NOTE: The computer can take several minutes to boot, so be REALLY patient.

  1. Now you are ready to login and find the CH2O IP address following the remainder of Norton's configuration instructions
