Replacing the Lighting and Turn Signal Stalk

The first step to this whole project was discovering that there is an OEM light stalk with the rear fog function.

The Russian 2013 Crosstour has the same interior but meets Euro-spec. The light stalk (P/N 35255T2AH41) plugs into the same bracket as the American models (bracket P/N 35251-TV0-B01).

New Switch Behavior

The new stalk can access the rear fog function from two different positions, but both use the same output pin. The pin shorts to ground when the switch is activated. Both positions are an impulse switch, meaning the switch snaps back after each use.

The blue wire is for the rear fog switch.

Installation

To remove the stalk, remove the steering column cover. This forum provided lots of help and inspiration for this project including this tutorial.

Add a wire to the blank slot in the harness and run it to the center console where the controller will live. Snap the new stalk into the bracket and connect the wiring harness.
