Netgear version numbering for DGND3700v2

So far, cersions here are of the form: V1.1.00.XX_1.00.XX where XX is the same. No idea about the repetition. At is sometimes preceded by a letter indicating some kind of regionalisation, I think.

Our version numbering

Versions are numbered as V1.1.00.XX_CCCCYYLN where

  • V1.1.00.XX is the Netgear base firmware used.
  • CCCC identifies the source, For this project I'm using 'NEWT'.
  • YY is the two digit year, at the time of writing, 16. If someone is still using this router in 2100, well, good luck to them.
  • LN is a letter number combination to indicate which version in that year it is:
    • A, A2 ... A9 are alpha releases. Very unlikely to happen, but kept in case needed.
    • B, B2 ... B9 are beta releases. Likely to happen.
    • C, D, E, F are stable releases. There will only be one release for each letter, but to keep cler it's preceeding beta it will be followed by the beta number it is based on. So if B5 is just fantastic and stable, and the next stable release is D, it would be D5.
