Venn’s Law of Retribution Quickstart Guide

Or how to stop worrying, and learn to love the raid

Here are some of the basics you need to know in order to start raiding, specific to the LoR trial.

  1. Watch the best LoR guide out there!
It’s a little outdated in terms of what frames to use, we’ll get into that in a bit

  2. Equip a raid-certified frame!

    1. These include the following:
      1. Trinity
        1. EV build - sustains the team’s energy pool
        2. Blessing build - keeps the team alive
      2. Nova
        1. Slow build - meant for CC
        2. Use portals whenever possible to transport the team over great distances fast
        3. Make sure to equip (primed) Flow!
      3. Rhino
        1. Built for range and duration - his purpose is CC via Rhino Stomp
      4. Loki
        1. Built for range and some duration, used for CC and bomb carrying
        2. Irradiating Disarm optional
        3. Use Decoy near Hek in stage 3 to protect your team from his rockets
      5. Volt
        1. Build for strength, speeds up the rest of the group
        2. Use shields to protect bomb carriers and pressure plates
      6. Vauban
        1. CC, range/duration build
      7. Banshee
        1. Can stack sonar on the final boss to multiply damage done to him
        2. Her quake is also useful for CC in the train phase, however be careful not to deprive your trinity of EV targets this way by killing everything!
    2. Some other, less used but still acceptable frames (in case you need more time to build one of the above):
      1. Ivara
        1. Can protect pressure plates with invisibility bubbles, use Artemis bow to quickly eliminate Hek at the end. Also viable bomb carrier.
    3. You do NOT need an optimized build to run LoR. Check our #resources section for the best builds available, and strive for one of those. But you’ll be fine with whatever build you can manage with the mods you currently have at your disposal.
  3. Build energy restores!

    1. Some parts of the raid take a lot of energy to beat, and sometimes your EV simply can’t keep up with you! Especially if there’s no enemies around. Building and using energy restores is highly recommended for this reason
    2. Any size will do
  4. Join a school bus!

    1. To join a raid, simply look for a group in #raid-recruitment. Make sure to point out you’re new. Nobody will look down on you, this is just so people know what they’re dealing with. We don’t do many LoR school buses nowadays, but you can simply join a normal raid and learn the mechanics for yourself. Ask as many questions as you want, the voice comms are there for a reason! Check #info to find out how to get notified about raids being hosted.
  5. Keep the mobs alive!

    1. Mobs in LoR are better left alive and CC’d than dead! If you kill everything, your trinity will have nothing to EV, and you will simply spawn more mobs that aren’t CC’d.
    2. This rule has exceptions. Always kill any mob with knock-back capability in phase 2! This includes: Scorpions, Powerfists, Shield Lancers (including Shik Tal, the G3 member), Arson eximi, heavy gunners and bombards when they get too close.
  6. Nightmare version

    1. Here are the differences between the regular and NM versions of LoR
      1. Bombs take more energy and time to charge in phase 1
      2. All pressure plates drain 10 energy per second while you stand on them
      3. The train in phase 2 dies immediately upon touching electricity - be very, very careful in this part!
      4. A new enemy type - disruptor drones - spawns which nullify player’s abilities and buff enemy damage - shoot on sight!
      5. The bombs in phase 1 have a very large explosion radius that WILL down any player inside it unless they have very strong defenses (full overshield with blessing activated)
      6. Hek is a bit tougher to kill
      7. The panels that activate a fomorian strike are no longer in the middle of the arena, but rather scattered around the map
      8. Some other, less relevant stuff
    2. There are no requirements for joining NM missions, however it is advised that you be very familiar with the regular version before attempting this. More solid gear is also advised. Raid hosts/veterans are free to set some minimum requirements in terms of experience or gear (for example, player must have completed 10 LoR runs in order to join Nightmare)
